Bus Shelter Ads for Homelessness Action Week

BURNABY –The City of Burnaby has placed ten bus shelter ads throughout all four quadrants of the City of Burnaby for Homelessness Action Week. October 7-13th, 2012.

Homelessness Action Week is a province wide initiative involving over twenty communities. This is the seventh year that the Regional Steering Committee On Homelessness has supported the coordination of events throughout the province which provide access to clothing, food, services and medical care for people living in extreme poverty and homelessness. The bus shelter ads will be strategically placed throughout the Lower Mainland.

“The Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness greatly appreciates the in kind support from the City of Burnaby and the Regional Steering Committee On Homelessness in providing this opportunity to advertise the 2012 Homelessness Action Week,” stated Wanda Mulholland Community Development Coordinator for the Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness.

“Unfortunately Burnaby continues to have many vulnerable citizens who live in extreme poverty and homelessness. There is a significant need for basic services and adequate housing in Burnaby,” reports Mulholland.

On Thursday October 11, 2012 the Burnaby Task Force On Homelessness is hosting the seventh Annual Burnaby Homeless Connect to provide food, clothing, toiletries and access to crucial services. The event, at Southside Community Church, 7135 Walker Ave. from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm, is focused on assisting Burnaby citizens living in extreme poverty and homelessness.
